NCYWG
The NCYWG is an independent, conservation oriented, non-profit
organisation sponsored by Bell's® Whisky and Xplorer™
Quality Fly Fishing Equipment and consists of voluntary members from
all backgrounds.
The group was founded in 2000 by about twenty
concerned, conservation-minded, passionate anglers, mostly from the
Kimberley area. This initiative was originated by a man named
Abe Abrahams, who was employed by the Department of Nature
Conservation at the time, and is now in the employ of the Department
of Water Affairs.
The NCYWG became even more active in 2002
when alluvial diggers were becoming a serious threat to the
wellbeing of the lower Vaal river in the Northern Cape.
We are
also active in the Northwest province after Nature Conservation
officials there asked for our presence on certain issues, in
particular establishing conservancies.
